The southeaster corner of Michigan, set on a series of beautiful
lakes, has delightful summers and white winters. Spring comes in April
and May when winter’s chill dissipates and temperatures begin to rise
into the 50s although evenings still hover in the high 30’s. Sometimes
there can be a last light dusting of snow in April but by May, days
reach into the low 70s with evenings rising to about 50 degrees.
Summer comes in June as temperatures rise to the high 70s-low 80’s
and July and August are extremely agreeable with highs in the low 80s.
Summer evenings stay warm, with temperatures in the high 50s and low
60s. As summer draws to a close, temperatures in September remain in 70s
during the day but evenings become cooler and begin to move towards the
lower 50s. Humidity all year long hovers around 70-80 percent in the
mornings, but afternoon humidity goes down to about 50 percent, so the
summer months stay pleasant and are never thick.
As fall unfolds, October is still fine with temperatures in the low
60s during the day although evening temperatures move down to the low
40s. November days are in the mid 40s and evenings start to dip below
freezing.
White winter arrives in December and lasts through February, which
are the coldest months when daytime highs only rise to 30 degrees and
evenings fall in the low teens to low 20s. March signals the end of
winter as days move into the mid 40s with evenings still around freezing
and still some snow.
The snowiest months are December through February with average
snowfall of nine to 12 inches per month and occasional blizzards with
strong lake snow effect. Lovely breezes blow all year long keeping the
air clear and annual rainfall averages approximately 35 inches per year
with two to three inches falling per month keeping everything green and
fresh. The most rain falls in August with about 3.5 inches, the warmest
month is July and the coldest month is January.
